Stay and Play

Stay and Play is run by a mixture of local mums, Abergwili Church members and the parish youth workers and meets in the Church Hall, so we feel that it is one of our contributions to the local community.

The group currently meets each Friday in term time from 10 – 11.30 and the number of children attending ranges from 8 to 20 per week - the age requirement for enrolment is 0 - 3 years of age.

It seems to be a a good resource for mothers and carers, who can meet together to chat and share experiences. Several new friendships have developed and there is a sense of mutual support during what can be quite a lonely time of nurturing small children. We have the support and friendship of the Abergwili school staff and most of the children go on to attend the school.

We provide a good space for children to run around, toys for them to play with, drinks and biscuits, and ears to listen. When children have a birthday we have a little celebration too.  Craft, singing and stories are attempted with varying levels of success, we are under 3 after all!

We feel that this is a really worthwhile service to the community, and we would welcome anyone who had a couple of hours to spare from time to time, just to sit and chat or be a helping hand.
