News and Events The Vicar's Contact Details have changed Please click here to see the new details New Rector Announced Our Vicar, the Rev'd Leigh Richardson has accepted the Bishop's nomination to become the first Rector of the new East Carmarthen Benefice. The new benefice comprises of Abergwili, Capel y Groes, and at the moment Llanfihangel, and the parish of Carmarthen St. Peter with St. John. The new benefice will mean that whilst Leigh's direct contact with the parish will reduce over time, he will continue to have oversight, even after the Team Vicar has been appointed. Leigh said, "It is an exciting challenge. Having ministered in St. Peter's Carmarthen nine years ago, I am looking forward to rekindling old acquaintances, but I'm also more than a little bit daunted by the sheer size of the operation and what will be needed to make this benefice work. We're also sad as a family to be leaving the village to be townies again, our eldest daughter Ffion was about 18 months when we moved to Abergwili from The Parade and for Lowri and Heledd its all they've ever known - so there are lots of really fond memories all mixed in with a bit of anxiety. Of course its not an 'ending' as such but it is the conclusion of one chapter and the beginning of the next in a completely different setting." Please pray for Leigh, Christa, Ffion, Lowri and Heledd as they embark on this latest challenge. Leigh's induction will be on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7 pm in St. Peter's Church, Carmarthen. Capel Y Groes @ Peniel Community Centre (CYG @ Peniel CC) Capel Y Groes church has taken the brave step to move from its ecclesiastical setting a mile and a half outside of Peniel, into the centre of Peniel itself, into the new community rooms. The move has been on the cards for some time, having been talked about before the building of the new school, and so with the onset of winter and a building that has seen better days, now was deemed to be the right time. The service pattern will be much the same as it was in church, but we are hoping that more people will come across, being able to walk there now and in a more comfortable setting. The services are twice a month, on the first and third, at 9.30 am. Tuesday Night Group For more information on restart, please check the PewsNews. Thursday Morning Coffee and Prayers Please check the PewsNews to see what is on this coming week. Due to the building work at the vicarage, daytime meetings are happening elsewhere - the prayer group will usually meet at David Foster's (tel.243558) house (13 Llwyn Meredith). Please contact him to see whether they are meeting. Stay and Play The popular parish parent and toddler group meets on Fridays in term time at the regular time of 10 am and finishing at 11.30 am. If you are able to help, either by being an encouraging 'popper inner' or by being able to make the teas and coffees from time to time, please do - this is an essential parish resource and link with the community.
